Calculus is an integral part of advanced mathematics. It is primarily
concernced with rates of change (differential calculus) and areas
under curves (integral calculus). The applications of calculus range
from complex analysis to probability. It is an extremely important
tools in many areas of science outside mathematics, most notably
physics and mechanics where it is extremely important to be able to
find and manipulate mathematical expressions representing the rate of
change of a quantity, for example, distance.
This document aims to give the reader a quick introduction to calculus
and its main applications.
