Differential equations are an extremely useful tool in many areas of
science, especially physics, where modelling based on rates of change
makes the derivation of mathematical models a lot simpler.
The study of differential equations is often regarded as a branch of
mathematics in its own right. What is included here barely touches the
surface of this vastly important and complex topic.
Here, we will concentrate only on first order equations - i.e. those
that involve first derivatives only.
